As we see whenever Netflix releases one of its juggernaut shows, the number of Netflix Originals released around it drops significantly, since viewership is likely to be fairly concentrated in a single place. Of course, we’re referring to Stranger Things, which is concluding across three volumes beginning on Thursday. That’s not to say there’s nothing else worth watching this week, though. Here’s everything coming up this week.

Missed any of the new arrivals from last week? You missed 83 new movies, series, and games, plus some of the weekend additions we didn’t cover included Ambulance starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the return of all four seasons of Call My Agent!, and Oh, Hi!

Of course, December is just around the corner, and we’re still learning of new arrivals planned throughout the month here. Now let’s get into our highlights:

What to Watch on Netflix This Week

Stranger Things (Season 5 – Volume 1)

Coming to Netflix: Wednesday Evening

Years in the making and nearly a decade after the show first landed on Netflix, the end is near for Stranger Things, which will drop in three instalments over the holiday period over the next couple of months. One caveat

You’re probably more than familiar with the final season’s details by now, but here’s a reminder on the official synopsis:

“The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”

In case you missed it, just yesterday Netflix dropped the final trailer for the first volume, which includes lots of jumping and certainly sets up the giant war to come within Hawkins.

We’ll have a complete countdown and schedule guide a bit later in the week, but you can refer to the countdowns below until then. Either way, you’ll be wanting to stay up late to avoid spoilers on social media.

Caught Stealing (2025)

Coming to Netflix: Saturday

Sony Pictures’ slate for 2025 has been a bit of a disappointment, with not too many blockbuster releases to talk about, and some of the more interesting films coming from its Classics subsidiary. This week, though, Netflix will debut its star-studded action thriller that was released to limited fanfare over the Summer, and we’re hoping it gets a big audience jump upon its Netflix release this weekend.

Darren Aronofsky is the director behind the film, with it centered on Hank Thompson, a washed-up former ballplayer, who gets yanked out of his stalled life and dropped straight into the rougher corners of 1990s New York City. What starts as a bad break turns into a fight to stay alive as he’s pulled deeper into a criminal world he never thought he’d even brush against, let alone have to survive.

Austin Butler leads with an ensemble cast that includes Matt Smith and Zoë Kravitz.

The Assistant (2019)

Coming to Netflix: Sunday

Another late addition to the Netflix lineup for November is The Assistant, a slow-burning but powerful drama from writer-director Kitty Green. The movie follows a junior assistant working for a high-profile film executive in New York City, charting a single day in her life as she handles everything from scheduling issues and demanding coworkers to awkward encounters with clients and the constant pressure from her unseen boss.

As the day unfolds, the small tasks start to add up, revealing the isolating and often uncomfortable environment she’s forced to navigate. It’s a movie that’s not in your face or explicit about some of the underlying goings-on, but it’s all there and deeply disturbing.

Julia Garner leads the cast in another excellent role for the actress, who came to prominence through Netflix’s Ozark and will reunite with the streamer for The Altruists in 2026. The film also features Matthew Macfadyen, Patrick Wilson, Dagmara Dominczyk, and Kristine Froseth.
