A24 will produce the television adaptation of Brian Watkins’ smash hit solo stage play Weather Girl. The series will be produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, and Julia McDermott will reprise her role as Stacey, the weather girl. Here’s everything we know so far about Weather Girl on Netflix.
Weather Girl is an upcoming Netflix original limited series. The series is an adaptation of Brian Watkins’s solo stage play of the same name, for which he will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. He has also been confirmed to be directing the first episode of the series.

Joining Watkins as an executive producer are Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey through Team Downey. Amanda Burrell is also an executive producer through her production company, Ginger.

A24, one of the leading production companies for independent films and television shows, is producing the series. The company has produced shows such as Mo, Beef, and Survival of the Thickest for Netflix.
What is the plot of Weather Girl?

“Set in a wildfire-ravaged California, the show will follow career-driven television weather girl Stacey, whose polished on-air persona masks her deep anguish over the destruction consuming her hometown. After reporting from a burning home with a family of five inside, she begins to spiral. The plot intertwines fears of the climate crisis and a strange reunion with her mother, who abandoned her long ago.”
Who are the cast members of Weather Girl?
So far, the only actor attached to the project is actress Julia McDermott, who is likely to play the lead role of Stacey, reprising her stage role.
McDermott made her television debut in ABC’s Women of the Movement, and also starred in shows such as Up Here and Elsbeth. However, it’s thanks to her performances in the Weather Girl solo-play that she has earned rave reviews from critics and theatre-goers.
