Three MLB Games To Stream Live on Netflix From 2026 Through 2028
Opening Night, the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, and Field of Dreams will stream on Netflix for three years beginning in 2026.
More live sports are heading to Netflix beginning in 2026. In addition to Japan streaming all 47 games of the World Baseball Classic starting next year, some major milestone events throughout the MLB season are going live on Netflix through 2028, including one regular-season game to open the year, a major All-Star showcase, and an annual special-event game.
The news comes as MLB locks down wide-ranging agreements with ESPN and NBCUniversal. Here are the three confirmed MLB events coming to Netflix in 2026:
MLB Opening Night on March 25, 2026
Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees travel to the Bay Area to face Rafael Devers and the San Francisco Giants the evening before the league-wide Opening Day slate.
T-Mobile Home Run Derby on July 13, 2026
Streaming live from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, the Derby brings decades of slugger history to Netflix as part of MLB’s All-Star festivities.
MLB at Field of Dreams on August 13, 2026
Live from Dyersville, Iowa, the game features Byron Buxton and the Minnesota Twins taking on Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies at the iconic movie-site ballpark.
All three events will be produced by MLB Network’s Emmy-winning production team in collaboration with Netflix’s live-event division. The coverage forms part of MLB’s new three-year agreement with Netflix, ESPN, and NBCUniversal, which extends MLB’s relationship with ESPN and brings regular MLB games back to NBC for the first time in 26 years.
“We are incredibly thankful for our partnership with Major League Baseball. We started with critically acclaimed documentaries, deepening the existing global passion for baseball,” says Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria in a press release. “Now, we are seizing that moment by bringing massive cultural spectacles — from Opening Night to the Home Run Derby — directly to our members, reinforcing Netflix as the ultimate home for both the story and the sport.”
“With a ubiquitous presence in the U.S. and an impressive global reach, Netflix is a perfect partner for MLB as the league’s international presence and popularity continues to grow,” said Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. “MLB has a diverse group of exciting international players competing in our biggest events which will create an appealing offering to Netflix subscribers around the world.”
Netflix has spent the past two years quietly building a live sports portfolio that now spans several formats. It began with the Netflix Cup, a crossover golf event pairing Formula 1 drivers with PGA Tour pros during the Las Vegas Grand Prix week, followed by the Netflix Slam, a high-profile tennis exhibition headlined by Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. The streamer then moved into weekly competition with the WWE Raw deal in the US and many other WWE events to international viewers, starting in early 2025.
From there, Netflix expanded further with a multiyear commitment to air live NFL games on Christmas Day beginning in 2024. The platform has also streamed three live boxing events, with a fourth scheduled for December.
