As we prepare for the penultimate season of Netflix’s The Witcher, we can reveal the episode titles and run times of all 8 installments. Turns out, season 4 is the shortest yet, continuing the trend of each season being shorter than the last.

The Witcher 4 is the penultimate season of the fantasy series, filmed back-to-back with the fifth and final season. Of course, there’s one big talking point that’s overshadowed pretty much everything else: Geralt of Rivia is now being played by Liam Hemsworth. This comes after previous star Henry Cavill departed the project due to creative differences and scheduling conflicts (at the time, he believed that he was returning to play Superman).

By the end of season 3, Geralt was physically exhausted after battling the mage Vilgefortz, who was working with Nilfgaard. However, upon learning that Nilfgaardian Emperor Emhyr had found Ciri (who, as we know, is a decoy), he ardently plans to find and save her with the help of Jaskier and Milva. Meanwhile, the real Cirilla of Cintra finds herself out fending for herself, meeting a group of thieves known as The Rats.

The official synopsis for The Witcher season 4 reads:

“After the Continent-altering events of Season 3, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge and their goals sharpen, they encounter unexpected allies eager to join their journeys. And if they can accept these found families, they just might have a chance at reuniting for good…”

The total runtime of season 4 is 427 minutes, making it the shortest season yet by quite a margin. Comparatively, season 1 was the longest with a total duration of 478 minutes; season 2 comes in second at 458 minutes; and season 3 comes in third with 451 minutes. Of course, Netflix has built a broader franchise around the seasons, with several spinoff tales, including Blood Origin and animated films. And with season 4, we should also be getting a feature-length special in the form of The Rats: A Witcher’s Tale.

The Witcher season 4 premieres on October 30 on Netflix. Are you excited for the new season? Tell us in the comments down below!
