‘The Great’ ‘Future Man’ and ‘Mr. Mercedes’ Heading to Netflix In Select International Regions
Netflix’s licensing bonanza continues, with some regions set to receive up to three fantastic series from the past decade, two of which are Hulu Originals.
Please note that the United States is not included in these deals, though fear not —you’re getting plenty of licensed series throughout November and already scheduled for December. One of them is The Big C, starring Ozark’s Laura Linney, which will also be available in most international regions beginning on November 14th. Another is Abenstia, another show we’ve previously covered, which is heading to the US and international territories on November 14th.
While we’ve tried to check many of the availabilities below, the best way to see if they’re coming to your area is to type the show names into your Netflix app search bar. If a show appears, it’s coming to the streamer where you live.
Let’s run through each of the three titles that’ll soon be streaming on Netflix, but only in select regions, as we’ll highlight below.
Future Man
Coming to Netflix: November 14th
Regions: Most international territories, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Latin America, Mainland Europe, the Nordics, and Asia. Notably excludes Australia.
Future Man follows Josh Futturman, a janitor and dedicated gamer who beats a notoriously impossible video game, only to discover it was a recruitment test sent from the future. Recruited by soldiers Tiger and Wolf, he’s pulled into a mission to prevent humanity’s downfall, leading them through a series of time-travel jumps to change key events. Josh Hutcherson stars alongside Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson.
The series premiered on Hulu in 2017 and ran for three seasons, ending in 2020. Across its run, it told a contained story that escalated from present-day settings to alternate timelines and future worlds, closing with a definitive conclusion.
The Great
Coming to Netflix: November 13th
Regions: Excludes the United Kingdom, Australia, Israel, and Canada. Includes most of mainland Europe, including the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and France.
The Great is a little more restrictive in terms of how many countries it’s heading to compared to Future Man, thanks to a myriad of prior licensing agreements.
The Great traces Catherine’s arrival in Russia and her difficult path toward becoming Empress. Elle Fanning portrays Catherine, while Nicholas Hoult plays Emperor Peter, capturing the strained and shifting relationship at the center of the story. The series presents palace politics, power struggles, and Catherine’s developing influence among the nobles and military.
The show debuted on Hulu in 2020 and ran for three seasons, finishing in 2023. Each season tracks Catherine’s growing leadership and reform ambitions within the Russian court, culminating in her consolidation of power.
Mr. Mercedes
Coming to Netflix: November 13th
Regions: Excludes the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. Includes most of mainland Europe, including the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and France, Israel, the Nordics.

Finally, Mr. Mercedes adapts Stephen King’s crime novel about retired detective Bill Hodges, who becomes fixated on reopening the case of a mass killer responsible for a deadly car attack. Brendan Gleeson stars as Hodges, while Harry Treadaway plays Brady Hartsfield, whose private life, work environment, and growing instability unfold alongside the investigation. The series is a grounded psychological crime drama without supernatural elements.
The show originally aired on Audience Network beginning in 2017 and ran for three seasons, concluding in 2019. After the network shut down, the series moved to Peacock in the US.
Those are three big series pickups for Netflix in international territories – are there any you’ll be watching? Let us know in the comments.
