Stranger Things final chapter is almost here.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, just one day before Halloween, Netflix unleashed the official trailer for the fifth and final season of the beloved horror series — featuring an early look at everyone’s favorite Indiana kids as their story comes to a close.

The trailer kicks off with Finn Wolfhard’s Mike Wheeler as he complains about being “stuck” with “no end in sight,” while he and his pals venture into tunnels and explore the unknown as they continue a search for Vecna in an effort to “end this once and for all.”

Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven then goes into a full-on sprint and leaps over a fence, before the trailer cuts to a scene of her telling Mike he doesn’t “get to write the ending.”

Eventually, Vecna makes an appearance in the season 5 trailer, from close encounters with a few of the kids to a moment where Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers is lifted in the air by the antagonist. “William, you are going to help me, one last time.”

The season kicks off in the fall of 1987, as Vecna “has vanished” with “his whereabouts and plans unknown,” per an official synopsis.

“Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding,” the synopsis continues. “As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”

Speaking with Tudum for an interview published on Thursday, Brown, 21, revealed her character is in “training mode” and “a warrior state” when we meet her at the start of season 5.

“As for her mindset, all she is thinking about is protecting her friends,” Brown said. “Her friends are her chosen family, so she will do whatever it takes to protect them, and we’re going to see that.”

Wolfhard, 22, described Finn as being “back in leadership mode,” as Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) revealed, “the stakes are the same as where we left off” last season. Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) told the outlet that his character is “in a bit of a funk” this time around.

“I think everybody probably is considering the state that Hawkins is in, and it’s getting a little bit harder for the gang to keep all the pieces together,” he said. “We’re all dealing with the day-to-day issues of what it is to try to keep everybody safe and figure out where Vecna is, while having a lot of unpacked baggage from the events in the previous season.”

Just as the trailer implies, co-creator Ross Duffer told Tudum that the season stars “a little bit in chaos.”

“Because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4,” he said. “We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.”

Stranger Things season 5 Volume 1 premieres on Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix, followed by Volume 2 on Dec. 25, and the finale on Dec. 31.
