A brand new 6-part docuseries, centered on Simon Cowell and his search for the next boyband sensation, is coming to Netflix on December 10, 2025. The Next Act will take us behind the scenes as Simon Cowell and his team go from hosting open casting calls to releasing a debut single. Here’s everything we know about The Next Act on Netflix.

Simon Cowell, one of Britain’s most renowned music producers, is responsible for the likes of One Direction, Olly Murs, Susan Boyle, and Little Mix, all of whom appeared on his wildly popular television shows, The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Cowell’s on-screen persona as a harsh critic has entertained British and American audiences for over two decades. Known for his sarcastic comments and snarky responses, contestants eager to impress him have created many iconic moments, both embarrassing and heartwarming.

Going against the grain and his usual approach to finding the next biggest pop star, Cowell and his production Syco Entertainment, are looking for an alternate method to finding the next big boy band:
