Filming is underway on Roommates, Netflix’s latest venture with Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions. The comedy will star the likes of Sarah Sherman, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, Sadie Sandler, Chloe East, and Storm Reid. Here’s everything we know so far.
Roommates is an upcoming Netflix Original comedy film directed by Chandler Levack and written by Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara O’Sullivan. Happy Madison Productions is producing the movie with Adam Sandler listed as one of the producers alongside Allen Covert and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.
The production of Roommates continues Sandler’s and Happy Madison Productions’ fruitful relationship with Netflix, and is the sixteenth film produced by the studio exclusively for Netflix. Earlier this year, the studio released Amy Schumer’s Kinda Pregnant, and the long-awaited sequel to Happy Gilmore is also arriving soon.

“A hopeful, naive college freshman, Devon, asks the cool and confident Celeste to be her roommate, seeing a blossoming friendship spiral thereafter into a war of passive aggression.”
Who are the cast members of Roommates?
Netflix has confirmed six cast members for Roomates: Sarah Sherman, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, Sadie Sandler, Chloe East, and Storm Reid.

All six actors have previously starred in projects on Netflix. Comedian Sarah Sherman previously starred in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah and voiced Coriander Cadaverish in Nimona. Natasha Lyonne has made numerous appearances on Netflix, but her most notable projects include Russian Doll, Orange Is the New Black, His Three Daughters, and Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion.
Nick Kroll is best known as the co-creator of Netflix’s longest-running adult-animated series, Big Mouth, where he voiced several main characters, including Nick Birch and Maury the Hormone Monster. He reprised some of the voices in the spin-off Human Resources.
Following in the footsteps of her father, Sadie Sandler has also starred in several Netflix projects, including Leo, Hubie Halloween, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, The Wrong Missy, Murder Mystery, and more.
Chloe East previously starred in the Netflix comedy No Good Deed. She is arguably most well-known for starring in films such as The Fabelmans and Heretic. Storm Reid has also starred in a Netflix project, which was When They See Us. She is best known for her roles in HBO’s Euphoria and The Last of Us.

As reported in issue 1461 of Production Weekly, filming for the project began in Jersey City, New Jersey, on June 24, 2025. Shooting is scheduled to end by August 12, 2025.
When can we expect to see Roommates on Netflix?
With filming already underway, there’s a strong chance we can see the comedy on Netflix before the end of 2026.
