These titles come off the back of Netflix picking up many Warner Bros. movies in December of last year (and into 2025), with many having only released theatrically earlier that year, with Netflix sharing part of the pay-one window alongside HBO Max. Examples included The Watchers, Horizon, Furiosa, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Beetlejuice. Whether we’ll see something similar for this year’s slate remains to be seen. We also saw Netflix pick up a bunch of DC movies for streaming in late 2023.

We posted a few of these last week on social media, which sparked a lot of speculation, adding fuel to the fire on recent reporting surrounding Netflix being potentially interested in acquiring Warner Bros., which is largely thought to be the prime target of Paramount’s new owner,r Skydance. A report from Puck News, citing an anonymous source, suggested Netflix is “considering” placing a bid.

Those talks have been downplayed by Greg Peters, speaking at Bloomberg’s Screentime, saying, “We come from a deep heritage of being builders rather than buyers. I also think that one should have a reasonable amount of skepticism around big media mergers. They don’t have an amazing track record over time. So I would say it’s our responsibility to evaluate all our options,” adding, ” Our job is to figure out what’s the best way to grow our business, right? And we have to think really carefully. How do we invest our capital, our time, and our attention? And if that’s the best way to do it, great. And if it’s not, then we should do something else.”
