We’re a step closer to getting season 3 of My Life with the Walter Boys on our screens, with production reportedly having now wrapped (or close to) on the YA teen drama series, which is set to return in 2026. Here’s our updated guide to everything we know about the show’s future, including when we could expect it on our screens, the new and returning cast, and more intel.

In case you missed it, My Life with the Walter Boys returned for a 10-episode second season on August 28th, 2025. Season 2 continues the story with Jackie returning to Silver Falls after a summer in New York, determined to repair things with Alex and set boundaries with Cole. Alex, changed and focused on a dangerous rodeo event, keeps his distance, while Cole’s new role at school fails to replace football and stirs up more drama. As Jackie fights to belong with the Walters while staying true to her Howard roots, she must make a choice that could shatter everything she has rebuilt.

The show returned and instantly flew to the top of the Netflix charts. For season 2, it spent five weeks in the global top 10s, picking up 245.4M hours watched globally, which equates to 32.9M views. Look at the chart comparing it to season 1, you can see the show pretty much kept pace and its audience despite the nearly two-year wait for its return.

While we’ve gone in-depth about where the story could go next in our full preview for what’s coming up here, let’s run over the central themes and plotlines that we’re expecting to be covered in season 3. While we’re trying to keep our preview readable, here are the bullets on where we’re expected to head next:

  • Jackie, Cole, and Alex must deal with the fallout of Jackie’s confession and Alex overhearing it, with Season 3 set up to push the love triangle toward a real resolution instead of repeating the “bouncing between boys” pattern.
  • Alex and Cole’s brotherhood is under serious strain, as Alex’s existing resentment now collides with the knowledge that Jackie loves Cole.
  • A cleaner second triangle is waiting in the wings with Alex, Kiley, and Dylan, building on Kiley and Dylan’s new romance and Alex’s jealousy to give him a story outside of Jackie.
  • George’s health scare becomes a major engine for the season, forcing the family to rally, press pause on some of the romantic drama, and re-evaluate their priorities.
  • Jackie is poised to lean into school leadership and college plans, while finally backing up her promise to be a more present friend to Grace after taking her for granted.
  • Cole continues the growth he started in Season 2, building on his coaching, SAT progress, and looming college decisions, while Alex channels his anger and confusion into bronc riding and a possible reset with Blake.
  • Katherine and George move closer to the center of the story, with Katherine juggling caregiving, her own identity, and the household, and George confronting vulnerability after nearly losing his role as the family’s backbone.
  • Will, Richard, and the other adults open the door to more intergenerational storylines and grounded adult romances, including threads involving Tara, Nikhil, Hayley, and Joanne that Halsall has already flagged as areas of interest.
  • Erin and Danny face bittersweet choices as college approaches, while Nathan and Skylar are set up for a slower, more careful rebuild after the Zach detour.
  • With several characters about six months from graduation if the story resumes in November, Season 3 can use that natural countdown to add urgency, potential goodbyes, and the question of who really leaves Silver Falls.

When will My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 release on Netflix?

With the series now wrapped and a 2026 release window already confirmed, when exactly could we see the show back? Given that it’s now got to go into post-production, we can definitely rule out much of the first half of the year.

Instead, our intel suggests we could be eyeing a September 2026 return, possibly early in the month, such as Thursday, September 4th. Fingers crossed we see a similar release to season 2 in late Summer, if not earlier, though!
