Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple Join Cast of Netflix’s Next Skydance Animation Movie ‘Swapped’
The movie is the second movie from Skydance Animation, following Spellbound, and comes from the director of Disney’s Tangled.
Skydance Animation struck a major deal back with Netflix in 2024, and their first movie, Spellbound, premiered on the streamer in November 2024. We’ve had to wait some time, but its second movie, previously known as Pookoo and now titled Swapped, is Netflix-bound in 2026, and we’ve just got word of the two major voice actors who will be leading the cast: Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple.
Set in a vibrant animal kingdom known as the Valley, Swapped follows a fierce little woodland creature and a proud, high-flying bird who accidentally switch bodies.
The sworn enemies are suddenly forced into an uneasy alliance, stumbling through each other’s wildly different lives as they set off on a sweeping, chaotic journey to switch back.
The film is directed by Nathan Greno, whose credits include Tangled, and features a script by John Whittington and the writing duo Christian Magalhaes and Robert Snow. John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews produce.
Speaking about the film today, director Nathan Greno said, “Swapped is an unpredictable, emotional ride — full of humor, spectacle, and heart. We drew from live-action nature documentaries, exploring the complexity of a wild ecosystem to capture something that feels vibrant and deeply human. Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple brought such warmth and authenticity to the film. Every moment between them feels alive — funny one second, deeply moving the next. Their chemistry lifts the story and gives Swapped its wings.”

The movie’s name has been changed in recent months and announced quietly in Spain by Carolina Borreguero Sanz at the Iberseries & Platino Industria panel in Madrid. No word on why the change, but given the film’s subject matter, it seems certain to reflect the story rather than the critter’s breed we’ll be following.
No word on release date beyond a confirmed 2026 release. Initially, the film was due out in late 2025, but given it’s been delivered, as confirmed by the earlier panel, we suspect it’ll be sometime in the first half of the year, possibly around Spring.
Michael B. Jordan has carved out one of the most versatile careers of his generation, rising from early turns in The Wire and Friday Night Lights to breakout acclaim in Fruitvale Station, global stardom in Creed, and cultural-icon territory with Killmonger in Black Panther. His current momentum centers on the awards campaign for Sinner, the period supernatural drama that showcases him in dual roles, with Ryan Coogler writing and directing. Alongside his live-action work, he has dipped into animation, with roles such as Cyborg in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and Julian Chase in Gen: Lock, as well as various video game releases, plus Love, Death & Robots for Netflix, where he featured in the episode Life Hutch.
Juno Temple broke through in prestige dramas like Atonement and Notes on a Scandal before shifting into everything from the cult favorite Killer Joe to Disney’s Maleficent movies. More recently, she’s become widely known for her breakout role as Keeley Jones in Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, a performance that has drawn major award attention.
The movie runs 1 hour and 38 minutes and is rated PG for action/peril and some scary images. Below are the other two first-look images we’ve had thus far, including the new one from the Annecy Film Festival:
