French game developer DON’T NOD, best known for narrative titles like Life is Strange and Tell Me Why, released its half-year financial results this week and quietly confirmed a notable new partnership: the studio has signed a development agreement with Netflix to create a new narrative video game based on a major IP.

Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Paris, with a second studio in Montreal, DON’T NOD first gained international attention with Remember Me (2013) but became widely known for Life is Strange (2015). This narrative adventure established its reputation for choice-driven storytelling and emotionally grounded characters. Over the years, DON’T NOD has developed and co-developed titles across narrative, action, and RPG genres, working with publishers including Square Enix, Microsoft, Bandai Namco, and Focus Entertainment. Alongside collaborations, the studio has increasingly focused on creating and owning its own original IP, which includes Vampyr, Jusant, and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage

The announcement for the new collaboration reads:

“DON’T NOD announces the signing of a development agreement with Netflix for the creation of a new narrative video game based on a major IP. Through this agreement, DON’T NOD will develop a new narrative experience that builds on the studio’s recognized expertise in the genre.

The project is currently in development at the Montreal studio and will be published by Netflix.”

While details remain under wraps, DON’T NOD states the project is based on a “major IP,” indicating it could be potentially tied to a recognizable Netflix series or film. Since Netflix will publish the game, it is expected to be released on Netflix Games platforms, although again, whether it’s cloud or mobile (or both) wasn’t announced.

This isn’t the first time we’ve learned of a major developer teaming up with Netflix. In early 2025, the Polish studio Bloober Team announced it was working on a new game titled Project N, though no major details were unveiled about what it was.

Are you excited about the new collaboration? Do you hope they’re bringing one of their own IPs to Netflix or working on a narrative game based on one of Netflix’s titles? Let us know in the comments.
