I Scoured Every Nordstrom Department to Recreate These Eye-Catching Celebrity Outfits — Here’s What I Found

Of all my family’s holiday traditions, one of my favorites involves my dad, my sister, me, and Nordstrom. 

Every year, the three of us head off to the department store to pick out a special outfit for our annual Christmas party. Sadly, now that distance separates us, we can’t all go together, but I still make it a point to go. And recently, I did just that.

However, unlike years prior, I actually had a game plan this time around: Fresh out of inspiration, I turned to Jennifer Lopez, Reba McEntire, and Kelly Clarkson to see what they’ve been wearing. And voilà! I found just what I was looking for. Let’s just say, I’ll be keeping these ladies in my back pocket for future holiday inspo, as well as everyday winter style, too. Ahead, see exactly how my mini try-on haul went.

Kelly Clarkson: Pretty, Pretty Pleats

While I don’t work in an office, I often wonder what I’d wear if I did. Dressing for the seasons is hard enough, but throw “business casual” into the equation, and I’d be at a total loss if not for Clarkson’s fashion example. This turtleneck sweater and pleated skirt combo meets dress code standards, but it’s not too stuffy or buttoned-up to lose style points.

The turtleneck I tried on toes the line between thin and warm and layers seamlessly under jackets without too much bulk. The skirt, on the other hand, was a little shorter than Clarkson’s, which I actually think suited my 5-foot-8 frame better. The pleats hit at the ideal spot to cloak my lower stomach area, and the A-line fit didn’t cling to my hips.

Reba McEntire: Shimmer & Satin

McEntire’s ensemble is everything we want our holiday outfits to be: fun, fashion-forward, and a little bit flashy. I thought it would be challenging to find a similar blazer with as much pizazz as hers, but miraculously, I came across this tweed topper with subtle yet showy sequins that glimmered under the light.

I styled it with this $60 maxi skirt to recreate the look from top to bottom, and it instantly became my favorite outfit of the entire bunch. It also hugged my curves comfortably and felt like the right mix of comfortable, classy, and Christmassy.

Jennifer Lopez: Shades of Beige

Dark earthy colors always get priority this time of year, but there’s something to be said for winter whites — er, beiges, in J.Lo’s case. The light, bright color scheme is like a breath of fresh air and could still be considered “holiday” when done up with a red lip or dazzling accessories.

At the same time, a chunky cardigan like this one from Free People is so practical and warm, I could see myself wearing it for weekends spent watching football, on dinner dates with my girlfriends, or holiday shopping. It was also oversized enough to provide modest coverage for my tight pants.
