Hot Chocolate Mug Cake Recipe Makes For a Perfect Mid-Week Pick-Me-Up Dessert

Well, Chef Aathira Sethumadhavan has shared a recipe that is a relatively healthy sweet fix, as each serving comes at just 175 kcal. As it is a mug cake, you don’t have to deal with the issue of baking or the oven, as this cake can be baked off in the microwave. This quick dessert delivers all the cosy flavours of a rich hot cocoa in a soft, gooey cake that comes together in minutes.
Hot Chocolate Milk Mug Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Mug Cake
• ¼ cup – almond flour or powdered oats
• ¾ tbsp – cocoa powder
• Sweetener of choice
• ½ tsp – baking soda
• 2 tbsp – Greek yogurt or thick curd
• ¾ tsp – vinegar
• 1½ tbsp – milk
• Vanilla essence (optional)
For the Milk – Hot Chocolate Mix
• 1 cup – milk
• 1 tsp – cornflour
• Vanilla essence
• 9-10 gms- dark chocolate
Method:
- To make the mug cake, mix together almond flour/oats, cocoa powder, sweetener, and baking soda.
- Add Greek yoghurt, vinegar, milk, and vanilla.
- Mix well and microwave for 60–90 seconds until set.
- To make the hot chocolate milk, heat the milk with cornflour and vanilla until slightly thickened.
- Remove half — this is your plain milk.
- To the remaining half, add dark chocolate and whisk until melted — this is your chocolate milk.
- Assemble the cake by pouring 1 spoon of plain milk + 1 spoon of chocolate milk over the mug cake, alternating.
- Fill it to the top, mix gently, and enjoy warm.
