Fatima Bosch of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2025 in a competition marked by controversy, emerging as a fan favorite after a live-streamed incident in which a Thai pageant director berated her, prompting a walkout by several contestants.
The 25-year-old received the crown from Miss Universe 2024, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark.
Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Bosch celebrated her victory with friends after being named the winner. A video capturing the moment was shared on Instagram by the official page of the Miss Universe organisation.
Following the result announcement, the Miss Universe Organisation extended its congratulations to Bosch on winning the crown. In a post on X, Miss Universe Organisation wrote, “Congratulations to our new Miss Universe. Tonight, a star was born. Her grace, strength, and radiant spirit captured the hearts of the world, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her as our new queen. The universe shines a little brighter with her leading the way.”
This year’s runner-up was Thailand’s Praveenar Singh, while Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali, the Philippines’ Ahtisa Manalo, and the Ivory Coast’s Olivia Yacé completed the Top 5 finalists.
India’s Manika Vishwakarma Misses On The Crown
Meanwhile, India’s Manika Vishwakarma exited the competition after failing to make it to the Top 12 list, extending India’s wait for the crown since Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu’s win in 2021.
India was hoping for her chance at the crown as she was among the top 30 contestants. This year, Indian badminton legend Saina Nehwal also served on the pageant’s prestigious judging panel.
The competition reached its thrilling climax as the Top 5 finalists from Thailand, the Philippines, Venezuela, Mexico, and Côte d’Ivoire vied for the coveted Miss Universe crown. During the spectacular showdown, the finalists showcased grace, confidence, and poise during this high-stakes moment of the pageant.
Widely regarded as the “Super Bowl” of beauty pageants, Miss Universe attracts millions of viewers annually. Each country’s delegate is selected through local pageants licensed by the Miss Universe Organization.
As host nation, Thailand showcased its vibrant and lucrative pageant industry, which, along with the Philippines, boasts one of the largest and most passionate fanbases in Asia.
With a legacy spanning over 70 years, the Miss Universe Organization, founded in 1952, serves as a global platform for women, promoting leadership, education, social impact, diversity, and personal development among its contestants and titleholders.
However, this year’s edition was overshadowed by controversy. Just three days before the finale, judge and composer Omar Harfouch resigned, and he was soon followed by French football manager Claude Makélélé, marking the second high-profile resignation from the judging panel amid allegations of rigging.
