Netflix has 8 documentaries streaming in November 2025. It might not be Netflix’s biggest month for documentaries, but there are some intriguing ones to check out.

October 2025 was a massive month for Netflix documentaries. The streamer debuted 13, over double the number released the previous month. Looking ahead to November, Netflix will release eight new documentaries, ranging from war and crime to the immense career of showbiz legend Eddie Murphy. Let’s take a look at all 9 documentaries coming our way, plus a bonus licensed docufilm to get you in the mood for Christmas.

In Waves and War

Coming to Netflix: November 3rd

From Participant, Actual Films, and Chicago Media Project, the documentary film In Waves and War covers the stories of Navy SEALS who’ve been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan many times. Upon returning, they experience immense post-combat trauma and turn to unexpected ways of treatment, including psychedelic-assisted therapy in Mexico. The documentary is compassionate and poignant, exploring the emotional impact of wartime PTSD.

Continuing Netflix’s tradition of launching docu-series ahead of big live boxing events, Jake “El Gallo” Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis will be giving you inside access to their training routines ahead of the big face-off later in November. This particular docu-series is narrated by Ice-T.


MARINES

Coming to Netflix: November 10th

Directed by Chelsea Yarnell, Marines is a 4-part coming-of-age docuseries following the members of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit — a force that conducted hugely high-stakes combat exercises out in the Pacific. It explores the immense drills and preparation they had to endure, the harshness and tribulations of life at sea, but also the close bonds they forged in their downtime. 


Being Eddie

Coming to Netflix: November 11th

Eddie Murphy is one of the most ubiquitous names in all of Hollywood. A majorly successful stand-up comic and multi-award-winning actor, Murphy needs little introduction. If you don’t know him from Beverly Hills Cop and The Nutty Professor, you most certainly know him as the voice of Donkey from Shrek.

In Being Eddie, helmed by two-time Oscar-winner Angus Wall, the inspiring documentary explores his explosive rise to fame, from his early stand-up to appearing on Saturday Night Live. It also features appearances from numerous industry legends who’ve been involved in his journey, including Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Jamie Foxx, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Brian Grazer.


Eloá the Hostage: Live on TV

Coming to Netflix: November 11th

From Netflix’s Brazilian corner comes Eloá the Hostage, a documentary film that explores one of the most shocking kidnappings and hostage crises in Brazilian history. The crime took place in 2008 and saw 15-year-old Eloá get kidnapped by her 22-year-old ex-boyfriend. Over the course of 100 hours, it was broadcast live across the nation through television channels.

This documentary features re-enactments of the crime that shocked the nation, as well as interviews with journalists and officers who followed the case closely.


Selena y Los Dinos

Coming to Netflix: November 15th

Directed by Isabel Castro, music documentary, Selena y Los Dinos revisits the incredible life and legacy of esteemed singer-songwriter Selena Quintanilla — also known as the Queen of Tejano. It explores her lasting legacy in the industry, told through the intimate lens of those who knew her best. The documentary features never-before-seen footage from the family’s personal archive.


The Carman Family Deaths

Coming to Netflix: November 19th

Directed by Yon Motskin (Encounters), this documentary explores Nathan Carman’s survival story and the mysteries surrounding it. After a fishing trip with his mother, Linda, off the coast of New England, she goes missing at sea. Nathan manages to survive for over a week at sea on a raft. After the story became major news, it shifted interest in the unsolved murder of Carman’s wealthy grandfather many years earlier. This documentary is a deep dive into the story, featuring exclusive and extensive interviews with family members and investigators.


Missing: Dead or Alive? Season 2

Coming to Netflix: November 21st

Missing: Dead or Alive debuted on Netflix back in 2023. The four-part docuseries took place in South Carolina’s Richland County Sheriff’s Department, where officers searched for missing persons. A gripping and often chilling documentary, it was quickly renewed for another season. Season 2 continues to document the officer’s work to locate people who went missing under mysterious and/or troubling circumstances.


The Stringer: The Man Who Took the Photo

The Stringer The Man Who Took The Photo Netflix Doc Release

Bao Nguyen’s documentary The Stringer: The Man Who Took the Photo explores one of the most shocking and iconic photographs from the Vietnam War. Known as ‘Napalm Girl,’ the photograph depicts a young girl running from the village of Trang Bang in June 1972, following a devastating napalm attack by the U.S. military.

The official longline reads: “A former Saigon photo editor reveals a secret he’s been plagued with for 52 years, setting off a gripping two-year investigation into the truth behind one of the Vietnam War’s most iconic photographs. Acclaimed war photographer Gary Knight and a small team of journalists embark on a relentless search to locate and seek justice for a man known only as ‘the stringer.’”

A documentary from director Dana Nachman. It chronicles the enormous efforts that go into ‘Operation Santa’, as run by the Postal Service in the US.
